Who should attend?

  • University students who are pursuing a career in IT/technology and who are interested in learning about Red Hat, containerisation, and OpenShift


Why should they attend?

  • To learn about current technologies being used in the technology industry.
  • To learn from Red Hat experts about the concepts of containerisation, Kubernetes, and Openshift through a number of lectures, workshops, and Q+A sessions.
  • To get hands on with OpenShift and learn how it is used to deploy and run cloud-native applications and AI workloads through a number of teaching and workshop sessions.


What is the key benefit of the event?

  • In a one week program of lectures, hands-on workshops, and Q+A activities, students will get the opportunity to learn from Red Hat experts the aspects of creating and running cloud-native applications and AI workloads on the Red Hat OpenShift platform, introducing them to tools used in the technology industry that they may not come across in university. All content and workshops will be delivered virtually.

Day 1

Introduction to Red Hat and the course, with a focus on introducing the concept of containers, Kubernetes, and the OpenShift platform.

Day 2

18-08-2026

Introduction to the command line and how it’s used to interact with OpenShift. Continuing with Kubernetes concepts, we’re looking at scaling and self-healing of containerised applications, logging, and how to expose your applications to the internet.

Day 3

19-08-2026

Deploying an application with a database, as well as getting to grips with networking in OpenShift. Also, learn how you can use OpenShift at home with OpenShift Local.

Day 4

20-08-2026

Understanding basic security concepts in OpenShift via Role-Based Access Control, how ConfigMaps and Secrets work, and how we can automate the process of deploying applications using CI/CD.

Day 5

21-08-2026

To wrap up the week we’re covering OpenShift AI, and where it fits in the Artificial Intelligence space, as well as other technologies available from Red Hat which we haven’t covered this week. We also have 2 of our current technical graduates speaking about their experience in the Red Hat graduate scheme.
