Oklahoma Red Hat User Group

08/18/2026 | 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM

Dead Armadillo Brewery | Tulsa OK | United States

Event overview:

Red Hat® User Group (RHUG) events offer a unique opportunity for Red Hat technology users to gather and discover solutions to IT challenges with subject matter experts & peers. Join the next RHUG to network and explore cutting-edge solutions for IT modernization. Don’t miss this opportunity to transform your IT services while enjoying great food and building connections with industry professionals.

This event will focus on the following topics:

Topic 1: A demo of migrating and managing virtual machines with OpenShift Virtualization.

This demo has three parts:

  • Manually migrating virtual machines from VMware to OpenShift Virtualization with Migration Toolkit for Virtualization (MTV).
  • Automating the migration setup process using Ansible Automation Platform (AAP), showcasing what migrating VMs at scale looks like.
  • VM monitoring with Advanced Cluster Management (ACM).

Topic 2: Securing the Software Supply Chain in the AI Era: Inside Project Lightwell

Open-source software underpins over 90% of modern enterprise IT. However, the rise of advanced frontier AI models has flipped the economics of cybersecurity. With AI agents scanning thousands of codebases in fractions of the time, the gap between vulnerability discovery and exploit has collapsed from weeks to mere hours. Traditional defense models—periodic scanning, filing internal tickets, and waiting on overwhelmed community maintainers—are no longer fast enough to protect your enterprise.

Enter Project Lightwell. Launched as a massive $5 billion joint initiative by Red Hat and IBM, Project Lightwell pairs a global force of 20,000 engineers with advanced agentic AI capabilities to secure open-source software at an industrial scale. Moving far beyond Red Hat’s traditional product footprint, Lightwell establishes a trusted enterprise clearinghouse for the broader application ecosystem—including independent libraries, language toolchains (starting with Maven/Java, PyPI, npm, and Go), and data streaming frameworks.

Join us at this Red Hat User Group (RHUG) session as we explore how Project Lightwell introduces a new model of institutional open-source trust and redefines software supply chain defense.

What You’ll Learn:

  • The AI-Driven Threat Reality: How frontier AI accelerates exploit windows, and why the current “scan and file” pipeline is broken.
  • The Lightwell Engine: How high-volume, AI-assisted triaging combines with human engineering to deliver secure, validated, and hardened patches.
  • Upstream-Always Commitment: How Red Hat ensures critical fixes are securely backported to your enterprise’s active software versions while simultaneously contributing remediations back to the open-source community.
  • Seamless CI/CD Integration: How organizations can inject this secure patch fabric directly into existing package registries (like Artifactory, Nexus, or Maven) and SBOM workflows via simple configuration shifts.

Suggested Session Details:

  • Target Audience: Platform Engineers, Application Developers, AppSec Teams, DevSecOps Architects, and IT Security Leaders.
  • Format: Technical Presentation + Architecture Overview (with optional live pipeline demo).

Topic 3: Moving from Insight to Action: Self-Healing IT with Event-Driven Ansible and AIOps

Traditional event-driven automation relies on a strict, deterministic approach: for every event you want to handle, you must manually write a specific rule and a corresponding action. If you have ten known failure scenarios, you write ten rules. But as hybrid cloud environments scale and architectural complexity explodes, operations teams can no longer script or out-pace every anomalous drift, threshold breach, or application crash. The result? Severe alert fatigue, extended Mean Time to Resolution (MTTR), and teams trapped in a reactive firefighting cycle.

AIOps (Artificial Intelligence for IT Operations) combined with Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) breaks this linear bottleneck. By injecting intelligent AI inference between system observability and automated execution, enterprises can move from raw telemetry insights to trusted, governed, self-healing remediation.

This session explores how to bridge the gap between AI intelligence and predictable production execution. We will look at advanced multi-LLM workflows where observability platforms feed alerts into Event-Driven Ansible (EDA), Red Hat AI evaluates system logs for real-time root-cause analysis, and the Ansible automation coding assistant (powered by Red Hat Lightspeed) dynamically coordinates the precise playbook needed to fix the issue. Learn how to let your infrastructure heal itself within established guardrails—ensuring every AI-driven action is backed by strict Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), approval gates, and authoritative audit trails.

Key Takeaways:

  • The Evolution of Event-Driven IT: Why traditional deterministic playbooks fail at scale, and how AI inference transforms unpredicted system alerts into intelligent resolutions.
  • Architecture of a Closed-Loop AIOps Workflow: A deep dive into connecting observability signals to automated triage, log enrichment, and multi-LLM diagnostic analysis.
  • Governed Execution & The Trust Boundary: How to safely deploy AI-guided remediation using Ansible’s built-in RBAC, Model Context Protocol (MCP), and job labeling for transparent audit trails.
  • A Pragmatic Maturity Path: How to start small with read-only use cases (like ticket enrichment and configuration drift auditing) before scaling to autonomous, zero-touch infrastructure remediation.

Suggested Session Details:

  • Target Audience: Systems Administrators, Site Reliability Engineers (SREs), DevOps Engineers, Platform Architects, and IT Operations Leaders.
  • Format: Technical deep dive, architectural overview, and an end-to-end AIOps remediation pipeline demonstration.
